Multi-media artist and designer.
Originally from the U.S.A., Nancy has been based in Copenhagen since 1995. She started to draw and make things as a very young child, and had an early interest in photography. Nancy received a B.F.A from Cornell University, and later worked and exhibited in N.Y. and Boston. Her interest in the handmade led her to experiment with traditional painting techniques, including gilding, trompe l'oeil, marbleizing and other finishes, and she became a skilled artisan.
After moving to Denmark, Nancy transferred her painting expertise to the film branch, working on such Danish TV series as DR’s ’Forbrydelsen’ (The Killing) and ’Broen’ (The Bridge), as well as on award-winning independent short films, feature films and theatre productions for companies including Zentropa, Det Ny Teater, and the Royal Danish Opera. In the past several years she has focused on independent art and design projects, continuing her own visual experiments with quasi-scientific problems involving water flow, surface tension, and growth patterns, and with the allure of the found and discarded object.
Her most recent design project, ‘Circuit Boards’, is a limited edition series of architect-designed oak worktables. The reclaimed tables are renovated, painted, and hand-gilded with complex organic patterns. They are sealed with lacquer and polished to a high-gloss finish. Each design is unique, and can be customized to your specifications. The tables measure 80 x 160 cm and are offered in two heights - work/dining table: 71cm or coffee table: 50 cm.
